Interviews

Marc was recently interviewed by William Nakamura, a doctoral candidate at the USC Thornton School of Music, for his inaugural podcast, Tubleaux. They discuss two LA-based programs, the Los Angeles Poverty Department's "Walk the Talk" initiative and the Hollywood High Steppers.

On-air interview, "Duke Ellington's Lost Opera, Forever A Work In Progress," on NPR's All Things Considered, host Robert Siegel, segment written by Priska Neely. The interview took place in the Winter of 2014. They talked about the productions of Queenie Pie that were co-produced by the Long Beach Opera (with the Los Angeles Jazz Orchestra Unlimited) and Chicago Opera Theater (with the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra).

Interview published online by David Brubeck. The interview is part of an essay called "The Jazz Bass Trombone." They talk about Ellington's use of the bass trombone in particular, as well as Ellington's use of the tuba and when he made the switch to string bass, and longtime Ellington trombonist Chuck Connors. There's A LOT of info there...give it a read!
